... connection but it immediately FAILS when I try to dial and reports Win2NCS Service Not Found servername .... .... the weird thing is I can place a call fine in HyperTerminal, I get the dial tone, dial the call, and that is as far as I can test as I don't have a BBS or something to dial into. Why is DUN failing?

No manual login via terminal??
With this enabled, I can ctrl-break with no ill effects, but this sequence drops me to the OK prompt, 'go' brings me back. Oddly enough, I had a fellow go into the server room and pull the cable from the hyperterm, with no effect. I had read that doing so would crash the server? it didn't in my case....odd

no dial tone message
No maybe about it in the situation being discussed, where the Control Panel/Modems/Diagnostics/More Info does produce the usual response. Then what the hell you pissing about with hyperterm Coz it would respond to diagnostics/more info but not to dialing out with DUN, stupid. The modem log showed that DUN was

Linux as server OS? No?
Here are some facts: 1) The problem is that the modem won't dial using either the internet connection stuff or the Hyperterm program. No dialing sounds come from the modem at all. You then get connection failed messages after some timeout. 2) When using Hyperterm and setting it for a direct connect to com4,

There are also settings in: File->Properties->Settings->ASCII setup that let you turn echo on in Hyperterminal; this will show characters you type even if modem echo is off; you'll see the characters twice if this option and the modem echo are both on. HotSync trouble; please help; Palm TS can't.
I've never figured out what these characters did (they are ASCII) and I have no idea where my modem packaging is to see if there's some flavor of documentation. (JMF unpacked the modem so the packaging is probably dumped.) Try "at$" via you favorite terminal program. Hyperterm will do.

v210 Solaris 10 mysterious crashes; no reason
The program (provided in all Windows) is called Hyperterminal. Use Hyperterminal to talk from keyboard and screen directly to modem computer: http://www.modemsite.com/56k/x2-hyperterm.asp http://www.modemsite.com/56k/usehyper.asp Again, 'No Dialtone Detected' is a typically a hardware problem on phone line side of

OLD MODEM
If you get something else like "destination unreachable" then you have no working transciever (a NIC or modem). If you use Hyperterminal, you are creating a SLIP or PPP connection, which substitutes for the above in a network sense. However, Hyperterm is not NetHood aware and does not use an MS authentication

Do you know what to do from here to get the IOS installed and running? You can xmodem it in via the console port. Just be sure to jack up the console port speed.
