OE - Msimn invalid page fault in inetcomm.dll still unresolved ...
The usual from-scratch route is to first transfer DOS 3.3 via a NULL modem connection using a plain Text send at a low baud rate (300 baud) from the PC running a telecom utility such as Hyperterm. No Apple II telecom program is needed because, with IN#2 the send from the PC just 'types in' the code.

New PCI modems junk? No caller id?
Still, no hyperterm. Still a long while later, I figured out that the reliable Win95 wouldn't install hyperterm program because I already had the hyperterm directory although it's empty. Again I felt very proud for coming up with this correct reasoning. I tried one more time. Deleted hyperterm directory.

I
used Hyperterm on the PC and it worked fine; so I ran my test program and FINALLY started seeing the test message being sent show up on the Apple //e screen. No comm program is needed on the Apple Side for that. I also have done this in DOS on the PC between 2 PCs before, so I also must assume that no comm

Attach a null-modem cable to the serial port and use a PC or Unix at the other end and run Hyperterm or tip. Turn machine on and check that you get a display (setting are 9600 baud, 8 data, no parity, 1 stop). Send a break signal to get to the OBP and type "boot cdrom". However, when trying to run lilo, I get the following shell error: sh: /sbin/lilo: No such file or directory Can someone please explain what this error message is trying to tell me? note that behaviour is identical if i do the same with hyperterm (trying to make call when there is no dial tone) I think its because tapisrv.exe is misbehaving. This is the case only if i try to close the appln after a failed linemakecall with no dial tone. The bug is only on Win98 (unimodem/v), works fine in

Guten Tag! I believe the desktop is a GUI construct. The minimal OS has no GUI. One might interface to the minimal OS w/ a serial port, and hyperterm. If you need a desktop, I think you need a GUI, and something more than the minimal OS. Good luck! - Pat kohli at ameritel.net.

Ur best bet is get hyperterminal private-edition which will send a proper ctrl-break, then u should be able to get in and sort it. Even if I dial in using Hyperterm, I cannot send any characters, nor does the server hit me with a 'Username:' prompt as I would expect (I do have the terminal window popping up after connection, nothing in the window, can't type anything in the window; hit F7 and same results in the HyperTerm main window).
