No respons from modem
(I have no idea why the directory would make a difference, but Palm tech. support suggested it, so I tried it.) No change. * Try the "HyperTerm" test, in which I open the COM port with HyperTerm and press the HotSync button on the cradle. I see gibberish, which I gather is correct behavior.

Clueless VAX newbie seeks help... (VaxServer 4000/300)
When I start to use the version of hyperterm that comes with WIN 98, get the comm parameters all setup the way I want them and then after I leave the set up screen, I get a program crash message. When I look at the details I tried uninstalling and re-installing the hyperterm program to no avail. Any Ideas? Ralph.

... Serial Cradle <=> Null Modem <=> MM <=> Data cable <=> Samsung 8580 I've confirmed the hotsync cradle is OK, and I've successfully connected to the vModem via my desktop and Hyperterm. We will be testing with the Samsung cable later this month and listing an official "yes" or "no" result at that time.

Problem: Visor + Samsung (& clearnet wireless access) == no go
Problem came when I try to test it by hyperterm. The hyperterm will open com port and do initialization first. The port can be openned successfully, 11-20-2001 16:06:01.62 - Send: AT<cr> 11-20-2001 16:06:03.63 - Recv: <no response> 11-20-2001 16:06:03.63 - ERROR: Unable to recover from unrecognized response.

If Hyperterm was setup to use TAPI, this is different kinetics! No TAPI. v210 Solaris 10 mysterious crashes; no reason
In the old hyperterminal, I would type in AT&W1 (I think) and it would give me the information I needed, but that doesn't work with this new version. AT&W1 writes the current modem settings to the NVRAM. You have no reason to do that. Depending upon the modem and its chipset, the command for post call diagnostics

Wayne R. wruff...@KomKast.net alt satellite gps I'll reiterate the Hyperterminal idea. One thing to keep in mind in trying to see the data stream is that the GPS unit may not output any data without a satellite lock - no position, no data. With a lock and NMEA set, it'll just spit out data continually.

Serial port problem: ReadFile() blocks forever
MIL This strategy has worked for me: Set up a pc terminal emulator (hyperterm works fine) to the serial link on the SGI. miniroot and dump the disk with a cat command, capturing it all on the pc (one file, hundreds of megs). More talented folks could probably locate just the password file.

But Hyperterminal does not let you use serial ports at all. It only lets you use *modems* -- ie devices that are in the Control Panal -> Phone and Modem Options -> Modems folder. I'm no HyperTerm expert but my WXP version lets me choose a com port from a list (the com3 port created by the modem driver) and create a
